Welcome to The Shacks!
We kept the trees, we kept the charm, and we added in six small restaurant spaces that share a large open-air patio overlooking a public one-acre dog park. With rolling terrain and huge oak trees, the restored and reclaimed construction of The Shacks compliments the natural beauty of the area. This is Austin Ranch’s newest destination.
“Young professionals are very busy today.
At The Shacks you can walk from your apartment, go exercise with your dog,
meet up with friends, and get food in less than an hour.”
Leading the tenant mix is a new ramen house from Japanese cuisine master Teiichi Sakurai, a James Beard Award semi-finalist. Sakurai committed to the project early in the design phase because he feels that The Shacks will be something that has never been seen or done before in the area.
“Billingsley has created something very special here.
It will be a tremendous dining and social option year-round.
It is a great alternative to the traditional restaurant zones you typically see in the area.
Plus, the dog park will be a great attractor that makes The Shacks more than just a dining destination.”
Well-known Dallas restauranteur Frank Carabetta is also on board with two of his concepts coming to The Shacks. Carabetta will open a burger-and-bar concept as well as a Cajun seafood spot similar to Bishop Arts staple Pier 247.
The fourth Shack set to open is OMG Tacos. Owner-operators Calvin Nguyen and Sean Smith have brought a new version of their wildly successful late-night taqueria in Richardson to The Shacks in The Colony.
